Satan worship & submission?

Addressing the elephant in the room.

Satanism in it's existence has always been seen as Devil Worship, but how accurate is that? Short answer, it is not accurate at all.
Longer answer, Satanism is against dogmatic traits that lead to submission, Satanism in general is based on principles of the Left Hand Path which reject the existence of submission all together and seek rationality alongside the benefit of the self. Satanism is not about kneeling before a deity or performing a form of devotion to a force or higher power, submission to God, the Devil, or any external authority is a limitation on the individual's autonomy. By these standards, we have to define what worship is. "the practice of showing respect for God or a god, by saying prayers, singing with others, etc.; a ceremony for this" - Oxford, in practice of Religion Under this proper definition, worship involves the devotion or reverence towards the acknowledgment of a superior external power. Satanism within it's branches does not promote this dynamic, even within theism, they do not express said worship. One can say there are theistic aspects that may seem like worship, but they are not acts of surrender, praise or obedience, Satan, in theism, is also a title, and force, in which it promotes the liberation and knowledge of personal transformation, theistic Satanists may give offerings or do invocations, but it will never lead to submission, they do not fear the beings they seek aid from, it is a mutual collaboration of forces where neither is lesser or superior, and it isn't worship in the generic sense. With all of this said, Worship is generally unsatanic, it is oxymoronic to the values of Satanism, values that promote personal liberation and indulgences, one that responds to the flesh, the ego, and one who turns the tide in their own life.

Do note: Some Theistic Satanists may claim worship as an act of Veneration/Invocation and Collaboration. You will find Satanists that will say they worship! Definitions may vary.

Why Satan?

Why Satan?   The terminology and philosophy of the Adversary in LaVeyan Satanism   Originally written the 06/07/2025 As most people already know, LaVeyan Satanism is strictly atheistic, they do not believe in the Abrahamic variation of Satan, or any literal figure, although most will ask, is it then a religion? The answer is yes and no, some individuals may recognise this as an actual philosophy or lifestyle rather than religion; But Satanism enters said realm through aesthetics, metaphors, rituals, and symbolism. Anton LaVey uses the symbol of human awareness, empowerment and being unapologetic for your carnal desires, it represents the raw natural human state; Intelligently, Passionately, and Carnal. The term Satan originates from the Hebrew word 'śāṭān (שָׂטָן)' meaning 'accuser' or 'adversary', in it's early use it was not an evil entity but a challenger, someone who questioned, this term later evolved over time into a personified figure of opposition...
